Arnold Says…
In this Arnold Says…post, Arnold talks briefly about Free Weights Vs. Machines. Now don’t get this post wrong. Arnold is not totally against machines. You’d have to read the entire segment in Arnold Schwarzenegger’s New Encyclopedia Of Modern Bodybuilding. The segment is much too long for me to post the whole thing here plus I don’t feel it would be right to post the entire segment out of the encyclopedia. However, the first paragraph says it all and pretty much sums it up.
Arnold Says…
“For a beginning bodybuilder, the majority of training should be done with free weights. We live in a technological age, and the exercise machines being designed and manufactured today are better than ever. But your muscles were designed by evolution to overcome the pull of gravity rather than to work against machine resistance, so the biggest gains you will make in building size and strength will come from pumping iron-using a barbell and dumbbells rather than by exercising on machines.”
