Sauna Suites | The Good The Bad And The Sweaty

by Scott on February 6th, 2008

saunasuit I bought a Sauna Suite yesterday. I’ve dreaded doing it for a long time because I knew the agony it would cause me during a work out. I like to be comfortable when I work out. I like a fan circulating the air and I like to be able to wipe the sweat off when I can.

Now if you know what a Sauna Suit is you know that it’s like wrapping yourself in a trash bag. It makes you sweat by holding in your natural body heat. Wrestlers (not the WWE kind) and MMA fighters use them quite often when trying to cut weight for fights by flushing water weight and burn calories.

You may say “By sweating are you really burning fat or just losing water weight?” you’re doing both. Let me explain. By using the sauna suit you are forcing your body to sweat. Sweating is good because it helps purge your body of some toxins. You also burn calories when you sweat because your body needs fuel for energy and will burn fat for energy when other means are not available. By using that fuel energy to sweat, especially when your exercising with a sauna suit on, you burn calories and fat. While you replace the water weight by consuming more water you are still burning calories while doing so. The water is replaced while the calories are not.

It is of the utmost importance to drink water while using a sauna suite to avoid dehydration. It is also very important to clean the sauna suit after use and to shower soon after using hot water to purge the remaining sweat from your pores and then cool it down shortly after to close your pores and cool down your body.

Safety is key! You don’t want to lose your life while trying to lose weight so be careful and remember to hydrate yourself. Moderation is the key to everything in life and if you diet right and exercise you will see results. Supplements can help but don’t rely on a pill to make you shed pounds while you sit on your butt in front of the tv. Getup, get out, and get healthy!

You can pick up a decent sauna suit just about anywhere that sells fitness equipment, but you can find an inexpensive one where else? Wally World!

I’ve worn sauna suits for a few years now, and enjoy walking, working out in them. I also wear around house, out, etc. I’m very comfortable in mine, and feel great when sweating a lot in them.
