Cutting Sugars May CAUSE Weight Gain?
A new study actually states that Saccharin, a popular sugar substitute can cause you to gain weight. Here are a few excerpts and my own take on them.
“We found that the rats that were getting artificially sweetened yogurt gained more weight and ate more food,” said study author Susan Swithers, an associate professor of psychological sciences at the Ingestive Behavior Research Institute at Purdue University.”
They are rats. They will eat anything and everything you put in front of them.
“That process, she said, involves the body’s ability to detect that it will soon be full. “We often will stop eating before we’ve been able to absorb all of the calories that come from a meal. One of the reasons we might stop eating is that our experience has taught in the past that, ‘After I eat this food, I’ll feel this full for this long,’ ” she explained.”
Well if you dieting the best thing to use to tell you that you should not eat anymore is the fact that your controlling your diet. Have some discipline. If someone puts a chocolate cake in front of me I think I will know when to stop eating. It’s common sense, we’re not cavemen.
“Artificial sweeteners can help people lose weight, she said. “The scientific community firmly believes that calories in, calories out is what makes a difference. The recommendation is that you reduce calories and exercise if you want to lose weight.”
To that I say No Sh*t Sherlock, you don’t need to have a PHD to figure that one out. The cynic in me has to come out once in awhile when I see articles like this. In theory they are good I suppose but there are something that you can’t use a rat to test. Rats are intelligent, but the human mind can think far beyond that of a rat (Most of us anyway). Rats don’t have a self conscious mentality. They aren’t worried about their weight or if their testicles are dragging along behind them as they usually are. They sniff, eat, defecate, and breed. How about we stop conducting BS tests like this and see if we can find some useful cures, immunizations, and /or causes for human illness.

Word.
I have also read that no fat or reduced carb or whatever diet foods you’re into allow folks to justify the mass consumption of them. As in, my sour cream is no fat, lo cal so I can put 2 big gobs of it on my baked potato.
My husband calls it the “eat ’till you puke” syndrome.

Well you can cut calories where you can. When I eat fast food I always get a diet soda. It’s bad enough I’m taking in about 800-900 calories. I drink a diet soda because that is actually 180 calories that I wont take in. Cut them where you can. The problem I have is people that are grosely overweight that do this like they are doing themself a justice by drinking a diet soda as opposed to eating a salad and some water.
