Protein Shakes For Your PC?
Upon opening Yahoo! this morning I saw an article on Proteins being beneficial to computer memory and I said “Huh?”. It’s actually a pretty interesting article about using proteins in computer memory because proteins are immune to magnetic interferences that can damage your hard drive and ruin you day.
“Protein-based memory devices should be immune to magnetic interference, which can wreck data on a hard drive.
To demonstrate the storage approach, the researchers used a special fluorescent protein to etch patterns on a glass slide. Using combinations of light and chemicals, they were able to read the patterns as computer data and erase them at will, mimicking the functions of a computer’s memory.”
You may be thinking “What does this squirrel have to do with the article?” Absolutely nothing! I just thought it was kind of cute.
