Mid-Week Madness
Today was a prime example for mid-week madness and mental health. I got out of work a little earlier than usual and figured, cool, I have some things I can do at home. Right. As I’m walking out the door my cell rings and My brother asks me to give him a hand moving some stuff. Since it’s a short drive to his house from where I work I figured there was no sense in driving all the way home and coming back. So I drive to his new house and wait there for a bit while his in-laws were kind of unpacking. I hate waiting on people and I don’t really feel comfortable around his in-laws I left and got something to eat and came back.
So my brother shows up soon after having to finalize the closing on the new and old house. I’m tired, he’s tired, we go to the old place to get some larger items and get back to unload it. My brother mind you has four boys ranging from the ages of 9 to 2. So you can imagine if they are all running around bored out of their minds, yet excited about the new house how much of a headache that can be. I ended up getting home about 9:30 tonight.
Honestly I don’t know where I’m taking this story but I kinda laughed when he got fed up at one point and said “I swear to god I’m going to kill one of them.” of course it was just a figure of speech but I could understand, I replied, “That’s why I only had two.” He also mentioned that tonight they will probably sleep the best since they put their old house on the market. Moving and trying to sell a house can be stressful enough. Add that to itchy buyers that want to finger you down to 3/4 of what you want for the house and people that back out of a deal, selling a house and even buying a new one can put your brain in mental overload. Now add four boys, in-laws, and other things and it’s a recipe for a breakdown.
How did I handle all of this? I went home to my rented house. Not my headache just yet. Easy fix for me…but I don’t think I’ll be by my brother’s place again until the in-laws are gone and everything is unpacked.
