The Ultimate Fighter…The Ultimate DUD!
I don’t cover this at all here and perhaps I should start. The reason I don’t cover something like this is because there is another blog at b5 that covers stuff like this. Anyway, if you have been following this season of Spike tv’s Ultimate Fighter you had the sad opportunity of catching this past weeks episode where once again “Rampage” Jackson’s team lost both fights. The first fight was alright but the second fight sucked. It was slow and boring and neither fighter showed very much skill in the ring.
Cale Yarbrough is a stand up type fighter with little or no ground skills, however that pretty much is where he won the fight. His stand up was guarded but not strongly aggressive and I think he had a little fear of Patrick Schultz’s right swing. Patrick Schultz gassed out fast and didn’t keep his hands up much and had a hard time connecting any punches with his sloppy swings and jabs. When Cale took him to the ground, Schultz he had no clue what to do. I blame this on the coach as well because they should have showed him some basics or something.
Overall this fight was terrible and if Patrick Schultz continues in the world of MMA I think it’s only appropriate to nick-name him Patrick “The Dud” Schultz. He didn’t make it on the show the first round cause he was a lousy fighter and he didn’t win a team victory because he’s a lousy fighter. Why Rampage Chose him to come back is beyond me. Cale at least has a bit of skill and I think with more training he can only get better on the ground…but “The Dud” needs to go back to the drawing board.

That wasn’t very nice. Pat is actually a really great fighter. Although he did look bad in the 2nd round. He smashed his hand to peices in the 1st round. Sometimes a bad break like that can make you sick. But I guess it’s easy to sit, watch and then write something negative without any idea what it’s like to fight. rock on.

So what was his excuse for losing his first fight? Honestly, no, I don’t know what it’s like to fight, but if he is such a “Great” fighter then he would have a more rounded style. He showed absolutely no ground defence, no less an offence. I really don’t think that he had good coaching for this fight either. Rampage is a great fighter but no the best coach.
Now Shultz has a big right hand and a big right hand will only get you so far, especially with how sloppy he was throwing it. And with the caliber of fighters on the show and in the world of cagefighting in general he is nowhere near being ready for this show or the UFC. I give him props for trying but there are more deserving fighters out there with a lot more skill that are still stuck in the smaller circuits. If it was any other fighter he went up against I don’t think the fight would have laste as long as it did.
…rocking on…
