Exercise Isn’t All Fun And Games….But It Can Be!
Obsessionfitness.comhas posted a great article about all the new fitness toys designed to make exercising more motivational and enjoyable. Let’s face it, working out and exercising isn’t always enjoyable and a lot of the times it takes some pain to get started. Once you work through the pain the rest can get boring, right? As human we are hell-bent on being entertained in everything that we do whether it’s work, relaxation or playing. I know I get bored pumping iron and the only thing that really keeps me going is my music most of the time. Some people say to try and do exercises while you’re watching T.V….yeah, good luck with that. Unless you’re watching a fitness program it makes it kind of tough.

Everyone has at least heard about Wii Fit, Nintendo’s answer to the couch potato, video gamers. While this was a brilliant concept it wasn’t the first time they did it. They did it back with the original Nintendo Entertainment System and had running pads you could run on with a track and field game called “Power Pad“. Some out of shape kids I knew would just drop to their knees and use the fists like double “Whack-a-mole” on rapid fire and try to win. The goal wasn’t to get into shape but to win a game.
So without anymore of my reminiscing about the good old days and 16 bit video games, check out Obsessionfitness.com’s article and all the cool gadgets and toys that might make your workout more interesting! It’s Not All About Wii Fit | Hi Tech Endorphin Pumpers that Make Fitness Fun

So true!! The most important aspect of an exercise program is having fun! (relatively speaking of course) If you don’t enjoy it, you’re not going to do it! Trainers need to find the exercises that clients enjoy and stay away from those the clients don’t like. That is a very important factor to become successful trainer.

Holy crap I just noticed the date on the video game pic…1988. Hard to believe that game was from 20 years ago…I’m feeling old…

WOW! I remember this… TMNT was a much better game though!
And I definitely agree that having fun is a huge part of staying healthy. Another large part of getting and staying fit includes developing a routine - which helps you feel prepared for whatever comes your way!
Thanks for the great article Scott, and the hilarious read.
All the best,
H.G.
